What are 'update credits'?

The most common mistake businesses make when investing in a new web design and hosting is forgetting that over time their website will need updating. It may be a simple matter of changing the wording on the site, a graphic or photos. It maybe that your website will start to expand and need new pages or even require a totally new look. These changes can soon add up so to get you started we give you six update credits up front.. These credits can be used to order updates to your site. On average a credit is worth about 15 minutes work on your site. In that time our coders/designers can easily change text, add links or maybe update a few photos. When you need more credits you can purchase them from your Control Panel.

What are addons?

Addons quite simply are an addition you can purchase to enhance your business or e-commerce website. They can be purchased when you order your new web design and hosting or added at a later date from your Control Panel. Addons are either a one off purchase of in some cases an additional yearly charge.

What is the difference between 'branded' and 'original' website design?

A branded website is a website that has already been built but is waiting to have your business logo, images and branding added to it. This type of website tends to be a more generic design and because it has been pre-coded takes less time to adapt to the your business. An original design website on the other hand is designed from the ground up. Being original means that our designers work to get a specific look for you. An original website design need to be completely coded from scratch. By the nature of our E-commerce site they are always branded as they have to tie in with a pre-defined database backend. However it is possible to purchase a original design website that also ties in with your branded e-commerce shopping cart.

What is CMS?

CMS stands for Content Management System and in short is a website that allows you easy access to add text and images yourself. Our standard websites do not tend to be CMS as we perfer to update your website ourselves but from time to time a CMS is a cost effective way to run a website that requires a lot of updating. In these cases your website can be upgraded. It is best that you add the CMS addon when you order your website but it is possible to add it at a later date.

What extra website functions can I add to my website?

There are many functions you can add to your web design and hosting but the most common would be: Email form secure CAPTCHA, pages that popup, bookmark us link, online photo album, web calendar, web survey software, Tell-A-Friend script, Guestbook for your visitors to leave comments, Clock etc. All these are availble just choose Extra Website Functions addon in your Control Panel or you can add them when you place your initial order.

What is Google Analytics?

Google Analytics is very powerful software offered free by Google to give you lots of information about who are visiting your website and what they are doing when they arrive. Just knowig how many people are seeing your site each month is useful but Google Analytics goes much further and helps you decide if your website is working in the way you want it to. If you like we can set it so you receive reports emailed to you. Setting up Google Analytics is best done when we build your website so please order this addon with your web design and hosting package.

What support do I get?

All of our customers have access to a direct support telephone number in the Control Panel that will allow you to contact us with any questions. Also emails are monitored and we even offer a text number if that is more convenient. As our system is fully managed you should find that any issues that arise are sorted without you ever being aware of them but on the odd occasion that you need to contact us you can be sure your query will be dealt with swiftly and professionally.

Do I need SSL Encrypted pages?

Firstly just to point out that by encrypted pages we mean pages that start https:// where the 's' stands for secure. In IE and Firefox browsers you get a little padlock that show everyone that if your visitors type into an encrypted page their data will be transfered safely. Most of the time you will not need to have encrytion for your website. You will however have to add encryption if you are running an e-commerce site so make sure you cost this in.

Can I move my website to another host?

Yes absolutely you can move your website to a different host at any time after you have made your final payment. Please remember that the first years hosting is included in the initial cost of your website and is not refundable. Once you have asked us to move we will give you ftp and backend access to allow your new host to complete the move. We do not however do any of the move for you simply because we would not be able to support you after the move is completed. All responsibility for the move therefore will be down to you and your new host.
